Today’s post is all about styling neutrals. Pairing black with this oatmeal color could be really boring if it wasn’t styled with accessories. Here’s some tips for how to make a neutral outfit more interesting:
- Add a print ~ Here I added leopard heels to tie the two color families (tan & black) together. I consider leopard a neutral and it would work with basically any neutral outfit. Other prints that would work are plaid, polka dots, or stripes. Try to stay in the same color family. For instance, if I wore these faux leather leggings with a white turtleneck, black & white polka dot heels would look adorable.
- Add a scarf ~ I’m such a scarf-aholic, so adding a scarf is just something I do with any outfit I can! Just like adding a print, the scarf adds something extra to make the outfit more interesting. Faux fur is a great choice, because it usually has more than one color going on. This faux fur scarf has tan, gray, and black tones, so it ties the outfit together nicely. If you’re not a scarf person (or it’s too hot outside), just add a statement necklace instead!
- Add a bold lip ~ I think this is the most important step. While a nude lip would look pretty, a pop of color really takes a neutral outfit to the next level. Red and pink are great options. Even hot pink like I wore in this previous post. A bold lip really makes a statement and breaks up the neutral tones.
Even if you just add one of these tips, you’re neutral outfit will thank you. 😉
You know I love faux leather leggings, and I FINALLY found an affordable pair for you! This pair from Nordstrom is only $28! They are true to size, however I had to get mine hemmed (insert eye roll emoji here). They are nothing to look at on the hanger, but I love them on! They are really comfy, stretchy, and not too tight in the waistband. You’ll be seeing them again in another post soon. If you still haven’t jumped on the leather legging bandwagon, do it girl! You will love them!
I hope you had a great weekend! Is anyone else already counting down the days ’til Friday?!
